Saw these guys, the Paper Cinema, at the V&A's Halloween late night opening.  Amazing.  Some sort of cross between shadow puppetry and animation, and the story was great, a modern fairytale type. YouTube and google dont do them justice, if you hear they're in town i'd definitely recommend a visit.

Also a 16mm film screening of abstract and structural cinema at the RCA last thursday bore some strange fruit, most interesting for me was Stan Brakhage and his impressions of pre-cognitive perception.  This is a still from Dog Star Man.  Obviously you have to see the films screened live:
